Rescue Me ID: 15-05-13-00091Maggie-Needs Foster (female)

Brittany Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maggie and Jake are a brother and sister pair adopted from a SC rescue as puppies who came to live in Alexandria, VA. Now 5 years old, they both must find new homes. Rather than send them back to rescue in SC, we would like to find them homes in the DC metro area. Since they are bonded and have always lived with the same family, DDB would like to try to find them a home together. However, we might consider separating them based on the adoption applications received. This darling girl loves to cuddle. Some of her favorite activities are relaxing in the sun and playing. Maggie weighs about 50 lbs. She likes dogs, but does best with bigger ... (Read More)dogs. Maggie likes to protect her brother Jake. Since she has never been around cats, we are not sure how she would react to them. However, she could be cat-tested. Maggie is very well-behaved. Her adoption fee includes spay and shots. Can you provide this sweet couple with a loving home? She will repay you with constant companionship and love for years. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Maggie (or Jake), please copy this link: http://www.dogsdeservebetternova.com. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-25-00889Rerun (male)

Brittany Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rerun was found in a ditch on the side of a road in Mechanicsville; he was lifeless, all of 11 lbs and literally a feeding ground for the mammoth sized fleas crawling in and out of his eyes. I took him home to clean him up, feed him, and give him a warm place to die in dignity, but he survived the night. I decided if he was going to fight for his life, the least I could do was get him medical attention. The vet addressed the immediate concerns which were Sarcoptic Mange, Hookworm, flea and tick infestations and heart worm testing. After 14 days of antibiotics he came into the care of the MAPR vets who discovered the need for immediate ... (Read More)surgery on a hernia. Upon X-raying the area in his abdomen, the injury was in the shape of a boot that leads us to believe it was due to blunt force trauma. His intestines were leaking into his body. They also found two puncture wounds on his hind leg that would not heal. Upon further inspection they found a tooth imbedded into his leg. He spent three months in a large crate on bed rest due to the heart worm treatments and 2 months in an XL cone. Today, he is full of life and love. Mornings are his favorite and he loves to sit by the bed and just wait for me to wake up. He then runs in circles and bounces around to head outside and explore the yard. He still has a feverish appetite and has become a little sneaky goofball. He is always playing some prank around the house, climbing in grocery paper bags or getting stuck under the bed. His favorite things are the sun, a warm porch, a warm lap/couch, and a friendly back scratch. He is extremely low key and is truly looking for his lifetime partner in crime. Big Dogs tend to make him nervous and fearful, so he will not be adopted to a home with large dogs. He does fine with small dogs (Less)
