Animal ID: 2016-0702 RockyRocky (male)

Brittany Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I know, I'm adorable, but I don't look like a 'regular' Brittany. Well, here's the deal: I'm not a full Brittany. A wonderful lady was passing by and saved my life - after I was mauled by 8 dogs in my back yard. We have no idea what I'm blended with (we all see the Brittany in me, but the other part is a guess: possibly a terrier of some sort - maybe a wirehaired Dachsund (I heard someone say that) - or some other combo). Does it really matter? Anyway, we're just not sure, but you'll have to agree that I am pretty darn cute. Now that I have that out of the way, hi everyone - my name is ROCKY - I'm a boy! I'm a very sweet, loving, ... (Read More)affectionate and snuggly wonderful young pup. I love to play with toys. While I was at my short term foster home, I learned how to ring the bell at the back door to go outside - so you can see how smart I am. I'm taking notes on what it's like to be a Brittany - it's a fun club to be in. Just don't forget that I'm definitely all puppy! Rocky has had his first round of puppy shots (more to come) and has been neutered. He is on heartworm preventative and microchipped. He sure would like be in his forever (or even foster) home right now. If you are interested in Rocky, please visit our website www.brittanyrescueintexas.org for more photos and our adoption application. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-01-00018Bonnie (female)

Brittany Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bonnie is a 37 lb- 1- 1 1/2 year old Brittany Spaniel /Border Collie mix. Bonnie is such a pretty girl and has a really sweet temperament. She is great with kids, has done well with the other dogs she has been around. Not sure about cats as the one in her foster home is skitish and Bonnie likes to chase her. She is very loving and likes lots of attention and snuggles. She does have an occasional accident in the house, that is minimal and improving. She loves to chew and loves chew toys and is entertained for hours playing with them. She does pretty well on a leash. She is definitely not aggressive and does not nip. She is smart and eager to ... (Read More)learn. She barks when she is excited, but it usually ends fairly quickly. She loves to talk to you when she gets excited. She does well outside, but has not been left out by herself for long periods of time. The only time she has tried to dig was where there was a mole or gopher. If you are interested in in giving Bonnie a fit-ever home please follow the instructions below to submit an application. Bonnie came to us a the beginning of March when I happened to be in the clinic when her owner brought her in for a limp on her hind leg. He stated she had been limping for over a week with it. After the vet examined her he determined that her hip was our of socket and had been for some time and because treatment was not given sooner it would not stay in place on its own. The vet suggested to the client that she have an FHO surgery. Where they remove the ball of the hip and with therapy the muscle and scar tissue builds up and makes the hip function again. Occasional limping may be noticed and if excessive exercise may cause tenderness and msg need occasional pain medicine from time to time. The owner said he didn't want to have the surgery because of the expense and said he would just need to have her put down. Our vet knew I was in the clinic and stepped out of the room to find me. He asked if the client would agree to sign her over to our rescue would we be willing to take her in. He said she is a very healthy dog and has a very sweet disposition and would be a great candidate for adoption of given the surgery and time to heal. So we said absolutely we will take her. So we did and she had surgery the next week and now two months later has had a remarkable recovery with the help and care of an excellent a foster family. She has been released by our vet for us to put her up for adoption. Our adoption fee for any FGHR DOG IS $200.00. To ADOPT you will need to go to our website @ www.furgivingheartsrescue.com Go to the FORMS page of the website and click on the button to download the application adoption. Then you can either save it to your computer or print it. If you save it to your computer and fill it out on the computer you can email it back in. Animal ID: 2016-0504 ChloeChloe (female)

Brittany Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My new name is 'Chloe' and my story is sad. But let's get on to the good stuff. My Foster Mom says I'm a sweetheart! Foster Mom: 'Chloe is very gentle and calm. She's a little timid at first but then extremely affectionate. She gets along great with our two Brittanys but is afraid of our cat. In the few days we've had her, we haven't had to get onto her about anything!! She hasn't tried to chew anything she shouldn't. She shares the food and water bowls with the boys just fine. Good news, Chloe is housebroken and crate trained. Since we don't have a pet door, we are teaching her to ring the bell to let us know she wants to go ... (Read More)outside. She doesn't seem to like to be outside for very long - she would rather be with her people. Chloe would be great in any environment but probably better with older dogs since she isn't that playful. At least, she doesn't seem that playful yet. She's pretty low key.' Chloe is up to date on her shots, heartworm negative and on preventative, she has been spayed and is microchipped and ready for her forever home. (Less)

Brittany    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is 'Gordo.' Don't you just love how cute I am? I am so happy to be a new member of BRIT's Brittanys and on the way to finding my forever home. I have a short and sort of sad story - none of which I remember. Fortunately, I'm now a member of BRIT and will be in a foster home soon. All I can tell you is that I'm very shy - and inexperienced in life. BRIT thinks I may have been banned to the back yard and never experienced what it's like to have a family to love me. I'm counting on you to change that! Gordo has been neutered, is up to date on all his shots, heartworm negative and on preventative and is microchipped. He is ready ... Brittany    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello everyone, my name is 'Zin.' My story is a bit sad - you see my Dad passed away a few months ago and my family could no longer care for me. BRIT stepped in and brought me into their program and promised to find me a new home right away and I'm going to hold them to that. They say that I'm affectionate and always happy and excited to see people; I love to run and play - but they mentioned that I need an 8 foot fence. Ihave no idea why they say that '| I will be going into a foster home soon so look for BRIT to update my story as they get to know me. Zin has been spayed, is up to date on all her shots, heartworm negative and on ... (Read More)preventative and microchipped. She is ready for her forever home. (Less)

Brittany Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I have been in a foster home for a while now and I LOVE these people (I know they love me too). I am ready for my forever home '| I you know you can't wait to make that happen '| I am full of personality, I do smile and prance around (pretty cute if I do say so myself). I am housebroken, love other dogs (not so much cats) and, of course, I love people. I'm a very sweet, loving, affectionate and playful girl. I know I don't look like a 'regular' Brittany. Well, here's the situation: I'm may not be a full Brittany (or I might be). We have no idea what I'm blended with (we're thinking French Brittany). Does it really matter? BRIT saved my ... (Read More)life (from a high kill shelter) and that's what counts. Anyway, we're just not sure, but you'll have to agree that I am pretty darn cute. Angie has been spayed, updated on her shots, microchipped and being treated for heartworms with monthly medications. She is ready for her forever home! Brittany    Age: Senior

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

UPDATE from foster Dad 4-20-16: Allow me to introduce myself'|..I am 'Smoke'! Yes, that's my real name - pretty awesome don't you think? My favorite thing ever is being outside--I'm a fence running, squirrel watching, sunbathing Brittany! I'm very well-wannered and won't bolt outside if you open the door, I'll sit patiently until I hear, 'Go Ahead!' I also know how to sit, stay, come, make a circle, and when I hear 'Inside!' I'll bolt right in! I'm great with other dogs, raised with cats and good with kiddos--even in large crowds! I'm housebroken with no accidents ever. I love to be loved on and will nuzzle and 'purr'- I'm a very ... (Read More)affectionate boy. So why haven't I been adopted yet!? My story is short and kind of sad. You see an animal control officer found me wandering the streets - it seems I jumped out of my yard and broke my ankle last June. BRIT has taken care of the surgery and helped with my recovery. Now I love to run around outside on all four, and I'm ready for my forever home! +++++ (Less)
